Canadian writer Ann Carson won the 2026 Literature Nobel, made new experiments in writing

Stockholm. Famous Canadian writer and poet Anne Carson has been awarded the prestigious Nobel Literature Prize for the year 2026. The Nobel Committee has given him this honor for such unique creations, in which he has beautifully combined old Greco-Roman literature with today’s life, love, relationships and deep sorrows. The committee said in its decision that Carson does not just rewrite old stories, but also adds her own imagination and deep feelings of contemporary life to them. In his works the traditional boundaries of poetry, story and essay often merge, which makes him completely different from other writers.

Born in 1950 in Toronto, Canada, Ann Carson studied ancient Greek and Roman literature and published her doctoral thesis on the same subject in 1981. Since then, along with writing, she has been involved in translation work and teaching in universities.
